Luke 17:18-19  Dennis Teague  Feb. 8, 2011

Leprosy is a disease of a social outcast. They stood afar off and unable to join the congregation.

Lev. 13:45-46
Lepers were declared unclean and separated from others.
Publicly declared unclean to warn others.

Sin is as leprosy that slowly takes life away by eating away the flesh and destroying its members
It may seem that your sin is not a disease as extreme as leprosy, yet causes some irritation that gnaws at your spirit unawares.  You need to aknowledge it and run to Jesus for healing for He is the only one who can heal a leprous spirit.

Sin casts us out of a righteous congregation, who are permitted to stand in the presence of a holy God.  Instead of dawing near, we wander away.

Bible examples of lepers:
Luke 7; Mk.   Simon, the Pharisee was also Simon, the leper.  Jesus was filled with compassion for him.
10 Lepers afflicted w/ same disease (9 were Jews; 1 heathen)-only the 1 heathen truly thanked
                       the Lord for cleansing him.

Luke 5:12-16   God is willing to cleanse us of all sin.
